THE BEGINNING of our New Zealand story was shaky. There was the excitement. There was a lot of confusion in all of us. There was a general feeling of happiness mixed with the feeling of being overwhelmed. There was the inevitable transition period mixed in with the “this may not last” phase. We have been all over the place but now things are settling in. As we settle into what this country offers, we find a great peace wash over us in our daily lives. The nonstop 24/7 news cycle doesn’t hang over our heads and seep into our hearts. The way of life here demands that you balance out your work with an equal amount of relaxation. Life doesn’t have to be birth-youth-work-death. Life can be whole and life can be in balance. The Hoenke Family was not made for the cycle that drives the American way of life. We are beings of finite energy and we think that life should be fun. New Zealand is a country where we are able to just naturally be who we are.

We settle into the oddities of New Zealand life. Sometimes it seems like there is no one else around. Sometimes it seems like nothing is open. Sometimes we feel so very alone. But it is through all of this that we adjust into a lifestyle that better suits us. In a way, we are becoming the people we have always known we are. There is excitement in what the future can be.

First and foremost, thank you to Heather Hilburn for the very nice FOR SALE BY OWNER sign. We gave Heather simple directions, and not only did she follow them but she managed to sneak in Haley’s beautiful rainbow Fidelia Hall logo.

It’s time to move on. We’ve been away from Fidelia Hall since early October 2019. We’ve tried auctioning off the entire property. We’ve got some great creative friends living there who are full of love and life. But it’s time to move on. Fidelia Hall is for sale by owner, and we are looking at anyone who is interested in the property. With the property comes two buildings, a lovely garden, and a space with lots of potential for family, friends, creativity, community, and more. If you or anyone you know is interested, all you have to do is talk to me and we’ll get to where both of us need to be.

So much of life is growth and change. There is always something to learn or something to overcome. One of the things that I am learning as I get older is that no matter what is happening in life that I should always approach it with positivity. There is no need for negativity, no need for gossip, and no need for drama. When we all learn we can and should always work together that is the day where the world truly levels up. We are all works in progress.
