SONGS IN MY HEAD 11-2025

Ahhhh yes, the month before the holiday music kicks in. I try to fit in as much music as I can in this month because once the day after Thanksgiving happens it’s all about the holiday music for me. For next month, instead of doing one of these lists I’ll change it up a wee bit and instead post screenshots of my full HOLIDAY 2025 playlist. But for now, let’s talk about this past month…

Starting off the month, we continue the Hoenke Family “We’re Very Much Into Geese” trend that dominated last month. I can’t help it. Great songs performed in great ways deserve all of the attention that I can give them. “mangetout” by Wet Leg shows up again as well, because I couldn’t stop listening to the song just to hear that hi-hat hit that leads into the verses. I love the little things.

As I go through this list, two things hit me: I really like good, catchy songs, and I also really love it when the production of a song just clicks with the song. That’s what I’m feeling with a lot of these songs, but specifically “Marauders” by The Lemonheads (the song couldn’t sound any other way!) and “Daises” by Justin Bieber (it sounds like a 1997 Weezer outtake to me with more soul). The rest of the list dives into some current popular tunes and also flirts with good ol’ Jams from every era. The Beatles are there because I love all 90’s Beatles, and AC/DC shows up because Justin wants to rock as much as possible.

We’ll end with a beautiful, dreamlike song from the great band STAR’S REVENGE. My favorite bit is near the beginning, when a kick drum comes in for a thumps before disappearing, only to be eventually replaced by beautiful voices singing and guitars ringing. Enjoy, and see you soon with some holiday music.
